This is a great mystery, and so much more - it's about 9/11, and terrorism, and government response to terrorism, and Islam, and immigration, and prejudice. It's a little dense - don't worry about trying to follow every detail of the plot, just enjoy the ride. I've found some of Wilson's books to be too dense to get through, but this one ranks with A Small Death in Lisbon as his best. This is a great mystery, and so much more - it's about 9/11, and terrorism, and government response to terrorism, and Islam, and immigration, and prejudice. An absolutely terrific follow up to a great first record. Early favorite for record of the year, 2007.

This book is outstanding. Reads like a great spy novel with characters you couldn't make up. The corporate crimes are easy to understand (greed is universal) and the author really gets into the heads of all of the players. Fantastic.

This is a fantastic crime novel and it's so much more. A lot of the pure "crime" stuff actually takes a backseat to the author's tour through Washington DC and the discussion of DC's social and political (mainly social) problems. The characters are deep and realistic and the plot, while not the crackerjack stuff of other crime/mystery writers, is highly engaging.
The moral is that things aren't always what they seem to be. A good read. This is a fantastic crime novel and it's so much more. If there was a better rock record released during 2005, I'd love to hear it. The swirling, battling guitars are perfect. Don't worry about the fact that this band has maybe a dozen records to their credit and that this one is a sharp departure from their previous efforts - in shorthand, the others featured killed 2-minute pop-punk songs, this one is almost classic rockish - get this record. If there was a better rock record released during 2005, I'd love to hear it. I agree. This is a terrific book full of real life twists and turns. There are no easy answers and no heros - Finkel, by his own admission, certainly isn't one. Highly recommended.

A great collection from a great, and in many ways underrated, band. Certainly no new ground, and it came out before American Idiot. But very fun.

In some parts better than I expected, in others about what I expected. Like many ultimately uneven records, it starts really strong, lulls in the middle, and then ends well.

This is a facinating book that is, in parts, can't-put-down good. Especially once you get past the early chapters on historical Muslim thinkers, the origins of Al Queda - from early warnings to Afghanistan and on - is great reading. Highly recommended, but only if you've got some time. This is a facinating book that is, in parts, can't-put-down good. This is a fantastic book. I read it one day because I couldn't put it down. The ultimate insider's look into baseball. You'll probably enjoy it if you're not a fan, but if you are a fan, you'll love it.

Emminantly readable and for the most part entertaining. Educational for those of us looking for more info about globalization. Although Friedman definately glosses over the problems - Wal Mart, job loss, etc.

This is a great record - SY at its poppy best. The departure of spacy producer/member J. O'Rourke leaves the original 4 with the space to make its most straight-ahead rock record since Dirty. The Thurston Moore tracks, especially Pink Stream, Sleeping Around, and Incinerate, are all great. This is a great record - SY at its poppy best. The departure of spacy producer/member J. A great departure from Connelly's Harry Bosch novels. Still entertaining. I'm not usually into "anti-heros" but Cassie Black is a good one - you really care about her and her plight. Won't knock your socks off - a few too many "relvelations" at the end to be plausible - but a good solid read.A great departure from Connelly's Harry Bosch novels. Still entertaining.
