Matthews Branch STEAM 101: Sensory Jars

Description

Participate in a variety of hands-on science experiments online. This session we'll be exploring fluid resistance!

This program will be provided by Matthews Library staff, and is recommended for teens ages 12 to 18.

Take and Make kits are also available for those that would like to receive the materials needed for this program. Reservations will be required so we can prepare the kits as needed. Call (704-416-5000) or email Kate Hill (khill@cmlibrary.org) as soon as possible. Kits can be sent to a branch closer to your location for pickup.

Kits include: 

  • 1 Jar (400ml, includes lid)
  • Glitter
  • Tiny smooth stones 

Additional Materials needed:

  • Clear Glue (8 ounces), Baby Oil (up to 13 ounces), or Glycerin (8 ounces)
  • Water (if using clear glue, water will need to be hot)

Optional:

  • Additional Glitter if desired
  • Any Small Object(s) you'd like to place in the jar (preferably light weight)

How to Join an Online Program
This event takes place on Zoom. Please register at least 24 hours before the event. You’ll receive an email with a link to the secure Zoom meeting about 24 hours before the meeting.
