Pineville Library Presents: Diwali & Mithila Art

Description

Join local artist Rupam Varma and explore the cultural significance of Mithila Folk Art. 

We will be creating a Diwali themed art pattern known as “Rangoli” along with a lamp (“diya”) in Mithila art style. The traditional art of Mithila Painting is an ancient art form that hails from Mithila region in Bihar (India). It is drawn freehand style using fine lines and vibrant colors. It will be an apt celebration of the festival of lights i.e. Diwali which wishes for happiness and prosperity to family and friends.

Supplies will be provided. Program geared for ages 11 and up. Please register all attendees.



About the Artist
: Rupam is an artist who enjoys expressing her experiences and influences in life through various forms of art. She does pencil sketches, watercolor, oil, acrylic, portraits, fabric, Madhubani paintings and Zentangle Art. She has been teaching various art forms to different age groups for more than 20 years.
