This is a free technology training program geared toward ages 50+ provided by Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and community partners including: AARP, Senior Planet and the Center for Digital Equity. This program provides welcoming learning environment for older adults to support each other as they develop new technology skills.
Course Description
This 5-week course covers the essentials of how to use the basic functions of a personal computer, how to navigate the internet, and how to send and receive email. By the end of the course, you’ll have a foundation for using a computer and the internet to enrich your life. We highly recommend that you follow Computer Essentials with Introduction to Digital Culture for PCs, which will offer additional practice.
Course Prerequisites
None. This course is designed for people who have never used a computer or have very little experience and want a solid introduction.
A computer will be provided for use during each class session.
Course Schedule
The course begins on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 9:30 am and will meet twice per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am.
Week 1: April 16, April 17
Week 2: April 23, April 24
Week 3: April 30, May 1
Week 4: May 7, May 8
Week 5: May 21, May 22
This program will take place in Conference Room 1 at the University City Regional Library on the 2nd floor. There is an elevator and plenty of parking.
