I thought this was a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock. WATCH IT.

Want to understand Hitchcock's movies? Read HITCHCOCK TRUFFAUT: The definitive study of Alfred Hitchcock by Francois Truffaut. By the way, Hitchcock said he did NOT read Du Maurier's The Birds before making his film.

“The Birds’ came out in 1963. The inspiration was a 1952 short story by Daphne du Maurier when she was forty five. Author Frank Baker believed that du Maurier had plagiarized his novel 'The Birds' (1936). Hitchcock had directed her…

Highly overrated in my opinion. It's not completely unwatchable, and there are some pretty good effects given its time, but the story is kind of lackluster and drags on for far too long. It's not pacing if it's overdone.

I have always loved this movie. And those that think it is slow, or quiet, well that is deliberate and intentional. You also have to put yourself back in 1963 --seeing a flock of menacing birds attack children running from a rural one…

Still scary after all this time. A young Jessica Tandy plays Mitch's Mother. Not a great movie but still Hitchcock never fails to surprise and scare you.

Tippi Hedren was so beautiful and elegant..like Grace Kelly. She drove a silver Aston Martin DB2/4....its perfect too. Special effects were quite well done considering this movie was made in 1963. Did you see Hitchcock in the opening…

The ending of this movie has always stayed with me -- it seems to hold strange religious overtones, which correspond uneasily but intriguingly with the periodic malice and silent vigilance of the numberless birds. The depths of the…

I can’t really understand why this is a classic. The first half (or even 3/4 of the movie) is really slow. It’s mostly people talking and commenting about the birds (who don’t even go crazy until about 30 minutes before the movie ends).…

🐦 The original Angry Birds, this is a masterpiece of suspense, with inexplicable mass bird attacks following Tippi Hedren around Bodega Bay, which in real life is a wonderful place for birding. The music, and the special effects, done…

Most horror movies are flat out stupid, but this classic manages to defy that cliche!

This movie was creepy and eerie and I really enjoyed watching it. At first it was a little slow as it focused on building the characters. Towards the end it stopped suddenly without much of an explanation which was kind of disappointing.…

This movie is one of Hitchcocks masterpieces and unlike most other Hitchcock movies---- where the enemy is a person or is the human construct itself- in this movie- the enemy is the environment. The birds who turn on humans could be…

THE BIRDS is often considered the last Hitchcock masterpiece (depending upon how you feel about MARNIE, anyway). I don't think it's a masterpiece, but it is the last Hitchcock movie I find fairly entertaining. The first half is slower and…

I had last seen this film when as a child it was on TV; its much better to see it without one's childishness or commercials getting in the way. The main idea that the birds are a manifestation of the unaddressed fears of the characters…

How did he make this film? Special effects in the 60s, phenomenal! Suspense? Hilarious! Utterly asinine. Almost too funny to believe. A film so incredibly incredulous, ludicrous, implausible, and unimaginable for the average person to…

Overall, a disappointing film. After the spectacular success of Psycho, I can't understand why Hitch didn't give Joseph Stefano a shot at adapting Daphne Dumaurier's novella into a script. Robert Evan didn't seem quite up to the task. The…

A lot of this is dated, and the older style of acting seems stilted today -- but nevertheless this is a superbly frightening movie. The scene where the birds attack the house set the standard for countless horror and zombie flicks (mostly…

The Birds is dated...no doubt, but It is enduring in any ways. For one,it has an eerie quality about what is going and why that has never been answered. Yet the story is well enough told that what and why is secondary to all the strange…

This is a 1963 American horror-thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, loosely based on the 1952 story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. It depicts a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodega Bay,…

Few films depict so eerily yet so meticulously the metaphysical and historical sense of a world out of joint.

I got four words to this "horror" film; passenger pigeons meet guns

Well, darlings - For early-1960's horror it's OK - But I heard that a lot of the birds used in this film were actually hurt in various ways. Tsk. Tsk. No animal protection available for these defenceless creatures.
