The Rebus character keeps on evolving through each new book. Each book is independent of the prior release. Thoroughly enjoyable!

great story with nice background for those of us who only know the more mature Rebus. this is the introduction to Shinbone Clark and she is showing her mettle. Worth the read if you are following the Rebus series and it does not have to be read in any particular order as the plots are always strong and stand on their own

When I started reading Rankin's books, I thought he was simply too hyped up for the books he actually put out. I almost stopped reading him, but someone told me to give him some more time and read a few more. I'm glad I did, if the ones following are as good as this one, he definitely has one more fan
