An excellent look into the young mind and thoughts of a fairly ordinary boy who has the time and the quiet to think big thoughts. A book that will inspire children with the concept that it's okay to stop moving, to get away from screens and technology, and instead to ponder and be curious.

A well researched, intimate look in Albert Einstein's path to discovery from childhood onward.
A book that is meant to capture the imagination and invites curiosity, thinking and creativity.
I particularly appreciate the author's careful attention to small details such as Einstein love of thinking in his sailboat, that his feet were happier without socks also that he mentions how Einstein didn't speak until he was well into toddlerhood. Free to be his quirky self allowed his mind space to think creatively.

This book is not necessarily about Einstein's theories and discoveries per se but more about Einstein himself. A gentle reminder to look at how we can free ourselves a little giving ourselves and our children space to think more creatively.

The book manages to pack a lot of Einstein's concepts and ideas into simple language, making it not just a great story but a wonderful learning tool as well.

On a Beam of Light not only outlines the life of Albert Einstein, but it encourages children to think as well. Think outside the box, be different, be creative, this is how true genius forms. Einstein's life was not one of "normalcy", he did not fit in at school, but his curiosity knew no bounds. The narration wisely gives little in terms of details because this book targets a young audience and specific things like formulas would be discouraging. Rather it focuses on the man himself, his questions, and his childlike exuberance. The thought experiments which he was well known for are not explained in writing, yet they are represented through the illustrations and a note is included in the back. The naive style reflects on the type of person he was, and the paper-like background gives an educated and light look to the whole. Red text highlights some of the key points the author is trying to express. This is a great biography for it can inspire and encourage all those young little geniuses out there.
