Moving his family from California to Maine, mystery writer David Rosenfelt tried to prepare for everything. They brought three GPSs, refrigerators full of food, and volunteers for help. But traveling in three RVs with twenty-five dogs turned out to be a bigger ordeal than he anticipated. Rosenfelt recounts the adventure with humor and warmth and tells how he and his wife became passionate foster parents for rescue dogs, culminating in the creation of the Tara Foundation.

This was an inside look at how David's life became enriched with rescue dogs mostly due to his wife's love of the "unadoptables" at the rescue where she volunteered. I loved the profiles of many of the dogs rescued by David and his wife. The trip to move across the country seemed easy until you understood the complications of moving a pack of 25! Highly recommended.

Loved this book. If you're a dog lover you'll enjoy reading about the challenges they encountered in their trip across the country. This was written with typical David Rosenfelt humour as enjoyed in his other books.

I read this book in one sitting. |It's a simple story -- moving the 29 or so rescued dogs that are part of the household from California to Maine -- but it's engaging and full of love for the dogs and the people who help. It also has little portraits of some of the rescued dogs. All in all it reassures about the possibility of rescuing dogs of all ages and health.
