This was a really simple book and an easy read. I was able to read it in just a few hours. I probably would have preferred a little more scientific depth or background but I want to love Krista Varady so I give this book extra credit for that fact alone. If you're familiar with PubMed and have the ability to search for and read published scientific studies then you'll know that Varady actually has the scientific authority and ability to write this book. She's not just talking about someone else's research or what is currently trendy. She is a researcher who has actually been studying this in real human subjects. That's a bit rare as anyone can write a book but not all authors actually know what they're talking about. You gotta love that about this book. Definitely read it!

I have lost 18 lbs on this diet since the beginning of February. I agree that you cannot overeat on the feast days, and I stuck to 2000 calories on those days. It works!

I have been following this diet plan for two weeks and find that I am gradually settling into it and feeling wonderful about it. My experience is that at first I was eating too much on the "feast" day (every other day). But gradually I lost the desire to do that and now am trying to limit my eating on that day. I feel that it might be overstating the case to say that one could eat all one wanted on the feast days and still lose weight. But I can attest that the fast days (500 calories allowed) are quite easy for me at this point. I am not seriously overweight but find this a good way to reduce somewhat, and also to keep tabs on my eating in a way I find convenient and interesting. The research behind the book's plan is well-presented and ieasy to read.
