In this explosive follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film Gasland, filmmaker Josh Fox uses his trademark dark humor to take a deeper, broader look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring on a global level (in 32 countries worldwide).

This sequel updates the issue of groundwater contamination from natural gas fracking into the period of the Obama Administration. The news is disheartening as the natural gas industry uses its wealth to wield influence in state and national capitals; and to have the environmental authorities called off. Josh Fox still needs to get a steady-cam video camera; and to refrain from zooming from panoramic to close-up shots. Fox's message applies equally in northeastern British Columbia especially with regard to man-induced earthquakes.

This is a good follow-up to the original documentary. It shows, unfortunately, how for many people their land and water situation has worsened, and how widespread fracking has become.

A continuation & update from the first doc done 5 years earlier ... just as good as the first in pointing out the corruptive influence of the oil&gas industry on governmental environmental regulatory agencies ... and the subsequent contamination of groundwater for human consumption.

It begs the question "Do some of the fracking corporations have a sideline business of getting rid of seriously toxic industrial chemicals by pumping them underground?"

Are government regulators this stupid?

This is a DO-NOT-MISS for British Columbians and Canadians in general at a time when this globally much-contested practice is being expanded by those too greedy to care about consequences here in the province. If you've missed the original- CATCH UP! The people who wait until it is past the tipping-point will scream the LOUDEST, no doubt - after all, they have so many EXPECTATIONS...
