In reading this godawful book, having minutely followed the travesties of ISIS, and its slick packaging, branding and recruitment practices, I am struck by the remarkable similarity to the packaging, branding and recruitment practices of Blackwater under Erik Prince. Prince has been a resident of Abu Dhabi for a number of years now, interestingly since the beginnings of ISIS. Wonder how many trips Prince has taken to a training center in Jordan?

Does not say much about the book. Just your opinion of the author.

Very self-serving account of a daddy-made-rich ultra-conservative who wanted to play soldiers. He found himself a bunch of like-minded testosterone junkies from the non-commissioned classes in the military and the police and used the Bush neocons to "patriotically" lever himself into Iraq. In the form of some hugely lucrative contracts, mind you. Being a leaderless mob (no officers, no generals, leadership from the State Department!) in the middle of a defeated country, it was a sad inevitability that the massacres they are accused of took place.

Frankly, this is a worthless book, as it is dishonest, self-justificatory and confused. And the CIA's gentle "editing" hand has helped neither coherence nor clarity. "True patriot" my round behind -- this is just some rich guy who should have stuck to video games -- he could have had all his neo-con jollies and maybe some innocent bystanders would not have been killed.

A truly slimy book by a scumbag. Only someone dumb enough to be a neo-con could swallow this fable without choking. To get a clear idea of the this "true patriot and entrepreneur" read Jeremy Scahill's book "Blackwater".

Excellent account of what modern warfare has become under our dysfunctional government. for those of you who are old enough to know who Paul Harvey is, this is the rest of the story. A true patriot, an entrepreneur, a former Navy Seal who was finally allowed to tell the truth about what happened during one of the worst run wars in US history. Great read.

Plenty of half truths, denial, and conspiracy theories. Reads more like fiction than honest truth.
