Original space movie. Yes, interplanetary travel has been done before, yes science fiction is nothing new and yes it is similar to Interstellar (2014) but this one was filmed before Interstellar so...

It's more of a suspenseful movie about how a manned flight to a moon orbiting Jupiter went, after the fact. It's based on recovered recordings from the ship and pieced together so as to not resemble a feature hollywood film, but almost a documentary. (It is not a documentary).

It's one of the better movies in recent years, I thought it was more original than most with a dash of realism.

One of the worst sci-fi movie I've ever had the displeasure to view. The whole movie is set in this phony looking space ship set, it's laughable. The acting is lame and the direction if miserably slow. On the jacket they compare this film to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Yes, Kubrick's was a masterpiece and this film is garbage.

Horrible scholck. How does garbage like this make it onto the big screen. Unbelievable. Terrible, terrible, movie. Just a huge bomb.

Well...I did not get the impression that there was much in the way of fore thought to this film. I had no problem with all of the special effects, etc.. But the logic of the film??? Seems any thinking group would prepare to the max for the unknown as much as possible. Remote probes, even drones and similar gear sure would have helped! I don't know... movie seemed to be lacking something.

This is a 2013 science-fiction drama directed by Sebastián Cordero.
It recounts the fictional story of the first crewed mission to Europa, one of Jupiter's moons.
Despite a disastrous technical failure that loses all communications with Earth mission control and a series of dangerous crises, the crew continues its mission to Europa and encounters a baffling mystery.
Although it is an intriguing and profoundly thought-provoking film, the story lacks imagination.
Probably there is also a script deficiency.
The scientific common sense dictates that a simple form of creature exists on Europe.
However, no form of creature shows up, which is a big let-down.

Europa Report seems like another run of the mill space exploration movie when you read the description of it. I waited a long time before giving it a try, and immediately regretted waiting. Most of the movie is about space travel to the outer edge of our solar system to look for life. I hesitate to call it similar to Interstellar, but they are in the same vein. The last half of the movie is totally different, however. I would compare it to Alien (minus some of the horror) and the Abyss. My only complaint is that it was hard to believe rational people would make some of the decisions the characters do during the last leg of the picture. Still, this movie is a must for any space thriller fans.

A very suspenseful space thriller.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Maybe others are expecting big explosions or big-name actors; I don't know. Personally, I thought this was one of the better sci-fi films I've seen in a while. It's a slow film with the tension steadily building; as for style, I think comparisons can be made to Moon. Here's the kicker, though: I liked Europa Report better than Moon. Much better. I didn't feel like Europa Report was trying too hard. It was what it was, and I was entertained by it.

Initially, I wasn't sure I would like Europa Report. It sets up the possibility to be another Sunshine. And guess what? I didn't like Sunshine much either. Sure, that movie started out great, but at the moment when it became a vampire-zombie-sci-fi-hybrid movie, I was rolling my eyes. Europa Report doesn't pull these kind of hijinks, however; it stays true to itself throughout. I could've done without that final image in Europa Report--I'd have preferred something a little more ambiguous--but over all I am really pleased with this film. The acting is so much better than some have said. The visuals may not be stellar, but I found them to be believable. And the story builds perfectly.

It's nice to see that some filmmakers still understand what science films should accomplish.

Enjoyed emmensly, highly recommend if you enjoy this genre. Awesome graphics that are very realistic looking.

Most realistic sci-fi film to date. Good story well told.
Some reviewers complained about the low budget effects, but that didn't bother me.
One thing that did was the almost nonstop background music. That's one thing that would not be realistic in the spacecraft.

See Nursebob's review.
