Great book! I love how Rysa Walker balanced the science fiction time travel element with the romance element... it can get a bit complicated though, (not necessarily a bad thing) so if you like mind-boggling time travel this novel is for you!

In a world where everyone has strange names… Kate has a normal life, living with her divorced parents and her best friend Charlayne, until her grandmother with cancer, whom she hasn’t met before, invites her to dinner and reveals Kate’s genetic ability to time travel. Predictably, yet still written unusually, someone has been changing the past, and she (of course) is the only one who can fix it. In the most recent change, somebody in her past was killed, so she no longer exists. Thanks to the magical medallions, Kate still lives and so she must fight against the bad guys to save herself, and the world. I loved this book, and I found myself cheering her on at every turn. I thought the characters and their interactions were believable, the plot had the perfect level of complication, and the style of writing appealed to me very much. This novel won the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, and it was well deserved. I was disappointed with the ending, until I found out there were two more books in the series, which solved the cliffhanger problem. The Chronos files is a great series, and I’d recommend it for a fun time.

This one is more teen heartthrob than time travel, but the science in the fiction is well done and true to the story. While definitely aimed at teens, it was still an entertaining read for this old duffer. I would read more, just not one after the other; I would need a pallet-cleanser.
