I definitely took some recipes from this book. Though ostensibly meant for a novice, there's plenty here for advanced cooks. All sections are heavily annotated with the author's rather scattered comments about his kids, pets, friends, home life ...etc. which is not something I personally care for. Also, the format is oddly uncookbook-like: very heavy binding and paper.

Cal Peternell is a professional cook who also cooks for his family and friends. When his eldest son moved away he wrote this book with him in mind. A joyful book of essential recipes for the beginner as well the seasoned cook.
