At the beginning, I thought, "This is one of those books I'm going to love!" This reaction came about because I loved the voice of Leo Gursky. Somewhere along the line, though, the story slowed down and got confusing and my interest waned. I had to go back and re-read sections because my attention had wandered. Much of the writing is lyrical and worthwhile in and of itself, and the story's premise is quite charming. I just wish it had held together well enough to fulfill the promise of the beginning.

I loved loved the voice and stories of Leo Gursky. Everyone one else though – no. Not at all. In all I felt the storyline went wayward and became unnecessarily convoluted. I skipped large sections of the book then filled in the blanks by reading the book’s Wikipedia description. That was enough for me.
