This movie should have been better. Christian Bale and the cast are good, but character development was lacking.

I'm used to movies generally not displaying complete accuracy of Bible stories, but this was RIDICULOUS. Everything from the character of Moses to the depiction of the events to the vengeance of God was inaccurate. They missed the point of the story entirely.
There's one part in the story of Moses that none of the other movies ever seem to depict, which is the cloud going before the Hebrews as they escape Egypt, and I was hoping that it would be in this movie considering it was supposed to have great special effects but nope--they didn't even attempt at using special effects for that cool part of the story. I'm so disappointed.

Kind of liked the Moses as a BA M*%#er #*!&er, but the movie was total garbage.

Was a better movie than I expected taking the other reviews into account.
Watched it from beginning to end and it kept my interest. Special effects were
very well done.

Awful awful movie!!! If you're going to base a movie on an actual person, get the story right!! The only thing they used was his name. They depicted Moses as a warrior with a sword. The real Moses was meek with a staff and faith in God. Most ridiculous depiction I've ever seen. Couldn't even finish it. Don't waste your time. Even if you don't believe in the Bible/Moses it's a joke.

Very bad >>> I love Ridley Scott films but why he did this I will never know. Bad acting, poor script. terrible character developement and motivations. It was a flat, turgid bore of semi biblical proportions. UGH !!!!

If you have seen the Charleston Heston version, you will be disappointed. There's no resemblance to the bible story that was told. Its a story about an Atheist Moses. What is the point of the story if Moses didn't believe in God? This Moses is seen as a mental patient who talks to himself.

About as believable as the actual bible.

Joshua: [cornered at the Red Sea] Do you even know where we are?

Moses: Yes! We are at a point on the Earth where there is a sea ahead, and an army behind!

Spoiler Alert:
Wise Man trying to explain the calamities: The Nile, as we know, carries a certain amount of clay. This year there's much more of it than usual... drifting in on the currents, settling on the riverbeds...and kicked up by the wild thrashing of the crocodiles. This thrashing not only dramatically changed the color of the water, but it fouled it...to the point of killing the fish. But frogs, as we know...can get out of the water, when they have to. Which they did. But frogs still need water... and when they can't find it in the streets of our city...they die. And then they decompose. And then the gnats come and the maggots come and the flies come …

Newly wed:
Zipporah: Who makes you happy?
Moses: You do.
Zipporah: Who makes you happy?
Moses: You do.
Zipporah: What's the most important thing in your life?
Moses: You are.
Zipporah: Where would you rather be?
Moses: Nowhere.
Zipporah: And when will you leave me?
Moses: Never.
Zipporah: Proceed.
... Moses proceeded to loosen up ...
