This was a fun read.

Pip Bartlett can talk to magical animals. Of course no one believes her. During a bring-your-parents-to-school day she rides a unicorn, and stampedes the entire thing. Because of that, her parents send her away to help on her aunt's clinic, along with her thirteen-year-old cousin.

Pip meets Thomas, a small boy who seems to be allergic to everything, and they become great friends. Along the ride they encounter plenty of creatures, including fuzzles, very cute, but seemingly useless creatures, aside from being able to cook your food, as they have the very annoying habit of lighting on fire when they're afraid or excited. There are fuzzles everywhere, and no one knows why; as they usualy try to stay away from human populations.

Can Pip, Thomas, and Pip's Aunt and her daughter, along with any other help the can get, solve this mystery before the frightening S.M.A.C.K.E.D. Agent exterminates all the fuzzles?

A fun, child-empowering little adventure, with just enough disorder and imagination.

Of course, I had tried to talk to them before, back at the clinic, and they'd only hummed at me. I figured they just couldn't talk or wouldn't talk. I guess I figured that something so small just didn't understand things.

The same way lots of people figure someone so small, like me, just doesn't understand things.
