This book focuses on many elements of the season change from winter to spring. I had kids act out melting to the floor like a snowman and springing up like a blooming flower.
When Spring Comes it brings new life like baby birds, growth like new seeds, hydration like rain, and fun as in puddles!

Add a CommentI just read this beautiful book for Kindergarteners. The illustrations are eye-catching and the combination of them and the words really celebrate springtime. It's a good book to use in a Seasons or Springtime unit. Plus it's 1 in his series of 4 and so far, they are all just as beautiful.
What a perfectly lovely book on spring! It has sweet, charming, colourful illustrations. The text is simple enough that is appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers and it can be used as a storytime book. Even though the text is simple, there is still quite a bit of information about spring. I have enjoyed many Kevin Henkes books over the years and this one is yet another wonderful book. It is a joyful, fun book that is perfect for little ones. Highly recommended.
Perfect book for toddlers and preschoolers waiting for spring!!
I love the counterpoint between the dark of winter and soft of spring in the illustrations of ‘When Comes Spring’ as well bold bright and pastel and that of rhyming verse and declarative sentences. It's brilliant!
A fun read-aloud about the changes in nature as winter leaves and spring arrives. Children will enjoy the colorful pictures and the surprise ending.
Good read-aloud for Toddler Storytime.
This has just become my favorite Kevin Henkes book! The artwork is lovely and bright and the story is perfect for talking to young children about the changeability and beauty of spring. It would work well for story time too!
