Excellent and fascinating exploration of five Victorian marriages. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy Victorian literature, erudite and quirky biographies, reading about over-sized literary personalities and the subtleties and permutations of intimate relationships.
Five stars!

a book about marriages which present interesting variations on the theme of conjugal power and because they are so fully documented. While marriage has changed in this century.. the lessons of these five famous couples still apply to us.
