"New York Times bestselling author Rob Bell shows us how to discover the greatness we were born for, successfully pursue our dreams, find our path, and live confident, fulfilled lives. Rob Bell believes that each of us has a path, a calling--whether it's writing a novel, starting a business, joining a band, or simply becoming a volunteer. But many people are afraid to start on that path. Who are we to do that? Bell counters, Why not you? We need to learn to turn off the internal and external critics and leap. The universe is alive to help us. And we can only discover passion and joy after we take off. Interweaving engaging stories; lessons from Biblical figures; science, art, and business; honest personal experience; and practical advice, he offers invaluable insight on how to silence our critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender the outcome. Combining the practical inspiration of Stephen Pressfield's The War of Art and the warm instructional insight of Annie Lamott's Bird By Bird, Yes, You encourages us to leave boring behind and embrace the fulfilling lives we are meant to have"--

"Whoever you are and whatever work you do, no one has ever lived your life with your particular challenges and possibilities. 'You' hasn't been attempted before."

This book is on Myleik Teele's list of favorite books. I wanted to read it because I struggle with being fully present in my life, especially in my career. This book gave me a lot of insight and has renewed my drive for becoming the very best version of myself. I love Rob Bell's writing style and his personal anecdotes, which helped me connect with the overall thesis of the book. How To Be Here is a book that I desperately need in my home library.

I really enjoyed this book. It's helping me to dispel my fear about writing and whether I'll be good. I have to work harder and put in the effort and believe in myself. No one can tell the stories that I have to tell. I found this book very inspiring and uplifting. I would read it again actually. And I'm actively pushing past my fear to have the life I want and be the person that I want to be. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Basically, self-help without substance. To me, it comes across with the genuineness of marketing materials produced by a used-car salesperson. I couldn't finish it...

I've read other reviews which were positive, so maybe this book will speak to other readers.
