"What The Dead Want" is a perfectly serviceable book, and the elements, though pretty trope-ish most times, rarely seem even the slightest bit out of place. However, I found myself unable to really connect with the main character--Gretchen--once she reaches Axton manor, and only really "liked" her at the very beginning when she's still wondering what happened to her mother and in the third act when she's being possessed by a deceased relative. The other characters are fine, though they lost their charm for me by the end, especially during the epilogue.

Not a bad book by any means, just one I struggled to find enjoyment in reading. Hopefully, others won't have the same problems that I had, and can find enjoyment in the characters and events that I simply couldn't.
