"Shanahan examined diets around the world known to help people live longer, healthier lives--diets like the Mediterranean, Okinawa, and "Blue Zone"--and identified the four common nutritional habits, developed over millennia, that unfailingly produce strong, healthy, intelligent children, and active, vital elders, generation after generation. Dr. Cate shows how all calories are not created equal; food is information that directs our cellular growth. Our family history does not determine our destiny: what you eat and how you live can alter your DNA in ways that affect your health and the health of your future children. She offers a prescriptive plan for how anyone can begin eating The Human Diet."--

I wish these MD's authors wouldn't feel like they need to make claims of the perfect solution to everyone's health issues. Chronic ailments always involve several different modality's solutions. That said, her pointing to nature rather than technology, specificaly big pharma., is a welcome contribution. Grateful to read a book that works for all rather than the wealthy private insurance crowd or those who can get appointments to an integral clinician. Maybe if enough of us say it, medicine and medical schools wil get on board.

Beware of nutrition recommendations in which an MD states he or she cured his own ailments. Nutrition information should be based on evidence based research. I am sure that this book cites several studies but would be leary of bias in interpretation.

Although the assertion , as she wrote, sounds incredulous; but the data and evidences she cited, are known to me for a long time from various previous readings.

I am so glad to find this book that summarizes updated current knowledge. The cure she claimed may not magically appear as quickly as she claims, but I can tell you it should work.

A must read.

Dr. Cate calls the "Human Diet": fresh food, fermented and sprouted foods, meat cooked on the bone, [and] organ meats. By adhering to this Human Diet, Dr. Cate cured her own ailments and has since helped countless patients and readers of the original self-published edition of Deep Nutrition achieve their own optimum health.
