This presentation of Swan Lake, filmed in 2009, is a revival of Anthony Dowell's 1985 version which restored the choreography of Petipa's 1895 original. The Royal Ballet performs Tchaikovsky's classic amid sets inspired by the arts of late Imperial Russia, the era when this ballet was first staged. Marianela Nu©łez and Thiago Soares star in the lead roles, with a wonderful turn from Laura Morera and Ricardo Cervera dancing the Neapolitan pas de deux. The atmospheric tragedy of transformation and betrayal ends on a hopeful note as two swans fly away together into the night.
