Diane Ford (Michelle Monaghan), a vivacious and successful independent truck driver, leads a carefree life of long-haul trucking, one-night stands, and all-night drinking with Runner (Nathan Fillion - Serenity, Waitress, Castle) until the evening her estranged 11-year-old son, Peter (Jimmy Bennett, young James Kirk in Star Trek), is unexpectedly dropped at her door. Peter hasn't seen his mother since he was a baby and wants to live with Diane as little as she wants him, but they are stuck with each other - at least for now, while his father Len (Benjamin Bratt) is in the hospital. Burdened with this new responsibility and seeing the life of freedom she's fought for now jeopardized, Diane steps reluctantly into her past and looks sidelong at an uncharted future that is not as simple or straightforward as she had once believed possible.

I did not like this movie. Mother has extremely loose morals, child is neglected and not wanted. How is this entertainment???

I enjoyed this movie. Smaller budget but well done. I like Michelle Monaghan's other movie roles also.

good reality film, maybe best for children over 12? deals with mom's leaving, cancer, and fairly outrageous lives of long haul truckers, with a twist because the truck driver is a woman. real life is sometimes hard to look at.

Didn't like it at all. Wondering why it was a "Winner" at a couple of film festivals.

this is a tough chick, not your more and more familiar "gangster b*%#..." hardened on the streets. She appears to be a gal who's been through a lot of crap and got back up and dusted herself off. the child is not a shock as she's aware of it however what happens to her is.

Good - Trucker (2008) 90 min. Michelle Monaghan plays a troubled woman who had made some serious mistakes in her time including the abandonment of her son. The film takes some time to find its mark and therefore, you’ll require some patience but once it enfolds you’ll notice one wonderful theme and that is how loving a God we have. Throughout the story, the troubled mother is given opportunities for redemption. It is those moments that the film shines. This is not a religious film but the themes are evident. Give this one a shot – you won’t be sorry.
