This episode of the U.S. Army's The Big Picture television series is the story about how the Montagnards - a primitive tribe consisting of approximately 600,000 people living in the central highlands of Vietnam - were trained by the U.S. to defend their territories against the Viet Cong. Viewers are taken on the American journey through our country's visual heritage in this historical recording. Taken from the National Archives and Records Administration, this film illustrates the methods used by Army Special Forces to win these tribesmen away from communism and on to the South Vietnam cause.
