Exploring the Asian love of sweet meats and salty desserts, Poh nearly called this episode Taste First, Think Later. As her scrumptious recipes win over the fainthearted, Emmanuel's hot and cold souffl©·s add a twist to traditional favorites. Most children love chocolate, but when Poh was little one of her favorite snacks was sugared cuttlefish - and it's that fine balance of sweet and savory in one dish that's a real hallmark of Asian cuisine. To demonstrate, Poh cooks the deliciously fragrant and sweet dry beef floss curry, or serunding daging, with turmeric rice. True to his French heritage, Emmanuel cooks a souffl©· - and in experimenting to add a young, sweet taste to the traditional savory, he whips up an asparagus souffl©· that is simple and elegant. For dessert, Poh creates kuih seri muka, a traditional Malaysian bite-size snack with a sticky rice base and slightly salty coconut-milk custard topping. Emmanuel makes a lime and mango frozen souffl©· with the zing of lime and the smooth sweetness of mango.
