Acclaimed anthropologist and explorer Wade Davis once more penetrates the hidden worlds of indigenous cultures, journeying to remote places rarely seen by modern society. In this program, he ventures deep into the South American rainforest to encounter an ancient people who continue to live in close harmony with the natural world. Davis hopes to understand the unique worldview of these river people, to learn the secrets of their survival, and to document an important event never before filmed: the cassava bread ritual. To do so he must travel into the Amazon forest to meet the people of the River Pir©Ł-paran©Ł. There he encounters four closely related people living on the river, including the Barasana. But before he can witness this magnificent and ancient ritual, he must journey upstream and deep into the forest to visit and learn about the most sacred places in the river people's universe.
