As this impressive history book's title says - "Vancouver 'WAS' Awesome" - Yeah - 'WAS' is so right - 'Cause Vancouver sure ain't awesome no more. Nope. It's being systematically ruined these days by greedy, money-grabbing developers who have no care, or foresight, whatsoever.

Meticulously presented by Lani Russwurm - "Vancouver Was Awesome" is a very enjoyable pictorial history of our once-fair city as it was growing up throughout its formative years.

From 1886-1971 - This well-researched book takes the curios reader back to yesteryear when open space in the downtown core was actually a living/breathing reality.

P.S. - You know - I found it really sad to see the photographs of some truly awesome buildings that once stood in Vancouver that have, long ago, been totally demolished by the mindless, merciless force of the all-mighty developer's wrecking ball.

Interesting snippets of Vancouver's history and historical figures. Fun read for tourists and locals alike.

Nice work Lani! Like a box of assorted chocolates, a little taste of everything. Some names were familiar, like Malcolm Lowry, some were new and made me want to find out more about them.
