Accolades from modern day CSI heavyweights on how Sherlock is still a guiding light in their careers.

We can certainly count on PBS to give us outstanding documentaries, and once again, they do not fail. This examines the influence of the legendary fictional sleuth- and his writer Doyle and the sources of inspiration for the character- on crime scene investigation done today. The documentary gets expert commentary from historians and forensics experts as it examines the course of forensics work that really started to become professional in the wake of Doyle's writings. A must see for fans of Holmes looking for a different angle, or for those who appreciate the science.

This is a great show! I was fascinated to learn how Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes mysteries practically created modern criminal investigation techniques that have brought killers to justice. The criminal investigators that are interviewed are very interesting, dedicated, people. I admire all of them. The world is truly indebted to Dr. Joseph Bell and Doyle. Highly recommended.

Although this is a frivolous point, this show proves that literature can change the world. Arts and the humanities are being dissed right now. However, without Doyle's fictional stories, who knows where we would be in terms of criminal investigation?
