Spymaster Clapper has lifelong irrational hatred of Russians. Any means against them is justified. Lies, subversions, and fraudulent wars are legitimate tactics in global struggle. In 2013 Clapper lied to Congress in denying massive NSA spying on Americans.
--- Brags of our stealing Soviet signals and flying spy-planes over their country. Says Russian nukes are dreadful menace, while ours are peaceful.
--- Upholds fake Tonkin pretext for US devastation of Vietnam, killing 2,000,000 people fighting to end Western rule.
--- Clapper vouched for Saddam's non-existent WMD. Upholds Bush's "with us or against us" threat to other nations. Praises Colin Powell's lies in Security Council. Upholds US demolition of five Muslim states, killing at least 1,000,000 and flooding Europe with refugees. Repeats usual lies about Assad and our pro-Israel/anti-Russian campaign to wreck Syria. Says all this is justified for US world dominance.
--- Implies Russians caused Holocaust. Says Putin/Trump back Neo-Nazis. Upholds US spying on NATO allies. Warns of another Holocaust if US spying is curbed. [For 2018 elections, Clapper says Trump is secretly spreading fantastic anti-Jewish slanders. In reality Trump has always had close Jewish allies, his daughter is Jewish, etc.]
--- Defends American "historical hypocrisy": We should blame Russians for doing what we have done longer and worse.
--- Omits JFK's vow to abolish CIA as evil institution, followed by his murder. [Physical evidence excluded Oswald, who was quickly silenced. Fired CIA chief Allen Dulles, sitting on Warren coverup Commission, said a "good" CIA agent will lie under oath. This time Clapper wants to remove President with smears, not bullets.]
--- Says Trump proved his racism by objecting to Obama's ridicule of gun-owning White Christians. Trump had no right to run against Hillary. His supporters are Russian dupes. By winning the election, Trump undermined democracy. His quest for peace with Moscow is treasonous.
--- Blames Russians for truthfully reporting Clinton lies and corruptions. Trump wickedly exploited them. [Clintons got $2,975,000 in Russian payoffs.]
--- Insists Russians swung 2016 election, but offers no evidence. Trump and Putin both seek to ruin America, so must have conspired, even if they didn't.
--- Omits Obama's spying on Trump campaign. Clapper did what he could to hurt Trump before the vote, but refused Dem leader Harry Reid's request to give Trump fake intel briefings.
--- Commends career officials who sabotage Trump agenda. Wants everyone to help bring Trump down.

Very worthwhile read if you want a sane perspective on the important of intelligence gathering in the US. The book starts with a brief overview of Clapper's upbringing, but it gets better and better as it goes along. I particularly appreciated his insights into the Benghazi affair and the Russian interference in the US democratic process.
