Opinion

From Library Staff

This warm, colorfully illustrated picture book provides a great message for preschoolers: all are welcome! Print copies available as well.

Use your library card or One Access number to access a digital copy of this title.

An uplifting read about diversity and acceptance, not only does this book represent a wide variety of races and ethnicities, but its wonderfully inclusive artwork and messaging also celebrate lesser represented elements such as differently abled children.

Enjoy this rhyming book with your preschool audience and encourage them to say the repeating phrase "All are welcome here" along with you.

A beautifully illustrated presentation of diversity.

Love that I'm pretty sure one of the kids is trans. I had always wondered how a trans kid might be illustrated in a book without explicit reference to them, but I'm pretty sure the illustrator succeeded!

What a wonderful, empowering story of inclusivity. The kids have various ethnicities and disabilities, as well as different gender, religion, and family dynamics. It took me forever to read this 44-page hardcover board book--there was so much going on I scrutinized each page and still missed stuff.

I thought this rhyme sums up the book: "We're part of a community/Our strength is our diversity/A shelter from adversity/All are welcome here."

I highly recommend this fabulous book
