The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman's act of violence against her husband--and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive ... Alicia Berenson's life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London's most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. Alicia's refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London. Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations--a search for the truth that threatens to consume him ...

I tried to predict the twist but failed. A very clever mystery around a convicted murderess who maintains complete silence. Why did she kill her husband? Her psychotherapist is determined to find out. Read it in a day. Excellent

Easily the best thriller of 2020. You’re guaranteed to read this in a single day, so plan accordingly. Without giving too much away, a woman murders her husband and a therapist is driven to figure out why (and that’s all I’m going to say about that).

This book was definitely a detour from what I normally read but I had heard so much about it I decided to put my name on the hold list. It was a little slow to get started but kept my interest because I wanted to find out how it ended. The end of the book has a real twist.

There's been a lot of hype around this book that caused me to raise my expectations, then the book didn't quite meet them.
Very easy to read with incredibly short chapters. Good writing. Was expecting a thriller, but I would say it's more psychological. Not a lot of heavy suspense. Decent plot twist at the very end.
I gave this one 4/5 stars.

I have no idea why this book is a best seller, the marketing team did an amazing job selling this book. The plot is silly and the characters are all unlikable. The writing is probably the worst part about this book, the style is so mediocre. The authors does a lot of telling instead of showing. I don't understand why he kept telling readers what country certain characters come from but give us nothing other than hey guys, character one is from the Caribbean and character two is Turkish. I would not recommend this book.

Not worth the hype.

What a yawner......I thought this was going to be good based on several comments. However, I was disappointed in it. In addition to the vulgar wording which made me want to stop reading, it was barely interesting enough for me to keep reading it. It was definitely not a thriller.

Like nothing I've read before! I liked the unique plot with the many twists along the way. One of the fastest reads for me this summer.

This book was recommended on a list of suspenseful books with endings with a twist. It was a little slow to get started, but then picked up and I couldn't put it down. And no, I did not see that ending coming! I definitely recommend this book.
