Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach. Her mom has one, too, so it's probably just a bug. Raina eventually returns to school, where she's dealing with the usual highs and lows: friends, not-friends, and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session. It soon becomes clear that Raina's tummy trouble isn't going away... and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships. What's going on?

This is like REALLY good. I love how Raina describes her life in graphic novels! It's really cool when she adds some funny parts. She is my FAV author! I highly recommend it.

i love all her books they are mostly true and are amazing and very encouraging

Oh, how I love this book. It's actually the only graphic novel that I've truly enjoyed. I have a friend who is an emetaphobe, and I have dealt with similar issues so Guts is super relatable, my only issue is that everything seemed to be resolved so quickly and nicely. Either way, what an amazing book.

I like how Telgemeier weaves her own childhood experiences into her stories. I also appreciate how, in the end, we are left to conclude that we are more alike than different. A funny read that also models the need for empathy in society.

I've never related to a story more than I have to this one. I felt like Telgemeier was telling the story of my childhood. Absolutely wonderful!

Raina Telgemeier is already the queen of kids' graphic novels and this latest memoir about her childhood anxiety is treated with her usual deft touch. Many children have had anxiety and stomach-aches, but what happens when it begins to interfere with your life? The look at therapy and self talk is genius and doesn't minimise the real fears that children can have. A great read for all ages.

Guts is another story about Raina which aligns with her previous two books about her life, Smile, and Sisters. Guts follows Raina's life at school, Raina's problems with her fear of vomit, and her anxiety. Raina's stomach problems, and her stomach problems and fear of vomit end up getting her a fear of food, and thinking too much about what she eats and if it could make her sick.
