Loving the comments from all the hurt racists who are mad that a book with bigoted tropes is no longer being made available to feed their disgusting egos.
STAY MAD! 🤣
Seuss was a racist whose work showcased his gross opinion on people who aren't white. So .... it's good that his heirs see non-white people as equals. Suck it!
Cancelled by the ignorant, this wonderful book will soon be gleefully burned by the modern day brown shirts. A shame as the book celebrates the power and pleasure of the imagination which is so important to today's youth. It is funny how the cancel Nazis don't see that the world the boy is imagining is inclusive. He could have imagined anything and yet imagined a world where everyone gets along. Can't have that, can we? If you are able to save a copy from the pyre, read and enjoy. It's well worth your and hour kid's time.
Funny how I'm not being allowed to check this out. Trying to control what I'm allowed to read? Afraid that I'd think for myself, make my own judgement, come to my own conclusion? You won't let me READ for MYSELF, San Diego Public Library? Shame on you! Your purpose is to provide books so the populace can freely educate themselves! Here you are, going against your own purpose for existing. Shame on you.
Why can't I check this book out? This is one of my favorite Seuss books! I can't buy the book online, in the States or any other country where I have checked. I will wait until China starts making some counterfeit versions that I can buy. Ironic.
Excellent book for a lot of kids and adults! Some of you folks are so riddled with White Guilt you're on the HUNT for anything that could be even remotely construed as "racist". You then point it out as quickly as possible like some over achiever student raising your hand in class for attention. If you don't like the book fine don't check it out, but don't ruin it for others that might want to check it out.
What's next cancel Mark Twain and Huckleberry Fin? It's really loaded with "racism"
The book contains a "Chinese man who eats with sticks" and a "Rajah" who sits on an elephant. This is not a statement for or against, just about content. The book is now 84 years old, and it shouldn't shock anyone that it contains some representations that do not align perfectly with 2021 sensibilities. Whether it should stop being published? Well, that's another issue entirely. I can say for certain that this will drive up the secondary market like you would not believe.
This is one of the titles being pulled by Dr. Seuss enterprises for racist images. I don't recollect reading it, so I'm going to check it out and find out why. I will update this comment with the answer.
I like Dr. Suess books, but in the book _And to think I saw it on Mulberry Street_, the words, "Say --ANYone could think of THAT
Jack or Fred or Joe or Nat--
Say even Jane could think of THAT"
This implies females don't think and it is a gender bias. I don't like it; however, it was first published in 1937 and this has probably has something to do with it.

I do not like the virtue signaling cancel culture here. I do not like it there. I do not like it anywhere.

A classic. Best aimed at the 3 to 7 year olds, but great from birth til much much older. It's about imagination, which is vital at every age.
