4 - 4 1/2 stars. This was a funny yet serious read. Cannie Shapiro is a 28 year old woman, a journalist, who has just broken up with her boyfriend Bruce. But when Bruce writes an article about loving a larger woman about Cannie, her world turns upside down. Feeling betrayed at first, Cannie becomes depressed and starts to rethink the breakup and becomes obsessed with Bruce. But after a quick hook up at his father's funeral, Bruce doesn't want anything to do with Cannie. Bruce's indifference is doubly hurtful to Cannie as her father left his family twice which left her badly damaged. Her weight was always an issue to her dad and to fund out what Bruce thought of her also badly hurts. But Cannie's life changes and becomes very dramatic and to see how she handles both the changes and the drama and how she evolves to meet the challenges ahead was a big part of what made this book such a good read. Also, I loved Cannie and her sense of humour and the well developed charactes and story line. A very good read.

Read this book quite a while ago but wanted to comment because when I finished “Good In Bed” I thought ....” Man! I did not like those characters! They annoyed me!l But then I thought..”Wait a minute... While reading this book, I laughed out loud and I actually cried real tears! That was a GREAT book!!

" So basically, you're pining for a guy with a small willy who treated you badly."-Maxi

Sometimes it takes a complete stranger(and a few shots of tequila) to put things into perspective. As Maxi does for poor Cannie in this novel. Cannie Shapiro, a newspaper reporter, had the misfortune of having her ex-boyfriend Bruce, who writes for a magazine, write about her in his sex column "Good in Bed". In an article titled "Loving a Larger Woman", Bruce puts Cannie's insecurities about her weight and her sex life out there for public consumption, which makes Cannie want to kill Bruce. Naturally. And since murder isn't a legal option for Cannie, she settles for calling Bruce "small" down there.

"Good in Bed" is my first Jennifer Weiner novel, but not my first time reading a story with a plus size leading character. I thought the novel was smart and at the same time funny.

good "chick" lit read. I really like Jennifer Weiner's books. She writes her characters well and gets you hooked.

This is funny in some ways. She is a large almost 30 yr old and her x-boyfriend writes about her in his new position at a magazine "good in bed" with a large person. He has a ponytail and is addicted to pot, has a small twinky and not sure of himself. She finds herself pregnant after her x's father dies and she sleeps with him one time. She keeps the baby, finds a good female friend with money, tries to loose weight at a center which is where she finds out she is pregnant. Eventually loses the weight and almost the baby. Her mother is a lesbian and her father doesn't even want to know her. Messed up as she is she ends up with the doctor from her weight loss clinic and is for once happy. Great book and only 5 hours long with lots filled in. Finished in one day.....shopped and clean house too.

I enjoyed this book although not as much as I enjoyed her other books. This one the main character got a little too whiny and bitchy at times. Mind you, it was warranted, but I think it dragged on a little longer than it could have. Overall, worth the read though
