Blunt puts us in a small Canadian town in the dead of winter and makes us feel the cold, then turns the cold into a metaphor for the destruction of young lives.

I was not expecting to like this book...(the Louise Penny book I wanted to read was not available so I decided to try this author) but I really, really, really enjoyed it. While the content is somewhat grim, it is like you are there in Algonquin Bay while you are reading it. I find the characters are also very well done. I plan to read more Giles Blunt in the near future.

I stumbled upon Giles Blunt and found his Cardinal series to be very compelling. His characters are complex and detailed. You can't iss with this writer.
