Courtney Barnett makes sounding simultaneously nonplussed and triumphant an art form. Echoes of Nirvana, Dylan and Lou Reed abound along with strains of 1960s folk-rock and 1990s alternative, with everything sounding fresh and confident. Barnett is a terrific lyricist – one of the best in rock currently – and a splendid guitarist. “Pedestrian at Best” stands as one of the very best songs of 2015.
