The world changed a lot during Victoria’s long reign, with inventions such as photography, the telephone and bicycles making their appearance. Hailed for inspiring the white wedding dress, Victoria wore black for many years after her husband died. The book explains how far flung the British empire was and has lots of useful sidebars about Buckingham Palace, Parliament, Charles Dickens, etc.
