This was such a cute book. It was a fun, fast read that had me laughing while turning the pages. I've always been a fan of Meg Cabot's books, and this one was exactally what I wanted it to be. What I loved the most about this book was the format it was written in. The entire book was composed through emails, voice mails, journal entries, menus, memos, texts you name it. Although the title just suggests a simple love story, the boy meets the girl, she likes him, he likes her, they fall in love, they live happily ever after, this story was far from that. There were desserts, a law suit, a mean boss and a cute lawyer. The story revolves around Kate who works for a New York newspaper called The Journal. When her terrible and soon-to-be married boss Amy orders her to fire Ida, the dessert cart lady who makes delicious desserts but doesn't give them to people who don't deserve them (Amy's fiancée, Stuart), Kate finds herself in a lot of trouble. Along the way she meets Mitch Hertzog, the hot lawyer who just happens to be Stuart's brother. Together they fight for justice and the perfect dessert. Overall, this was a nice, light-hearted book that had me laughing out loud. Meg Cabot creates such fun characters who we love, and hilarious characters who just creep us out (yeah I'm talking about Dale). Boy meets girl was a fast read that left me in a good mood.
